Assembly Election Results 2023

In Assembly Election Results 2023, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) won in three out of four states, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. The Congress is comfortably ahead in the southern state of Telangana. The counting of votes for a fifth state, Mizoram, is due on Monday.

BJP leaders attribute the success to Modi’s leadership, Amit Shah’s strategy, and the party’s social policies. At the same time, the opposition is reducing its influence in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Despite these dynamics, Sunday’s results are a major boost for Mr. Modi, who is already aiming for a record third term next year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the assembly election results are a win for ‘Aatmanirbharta’ and ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas’.

Referring Assembly Election Results 2023 in the three states, the Prime Minister claimed that “a hat-trick of victories” ensured the BJP’s hat-trick of victories in the Lok Sabha elections. He said “The voter needs a well-defined agenda to improve his lifestyle… India’s voter knows that when India progresses, the state progresses and the life of every family improves. So, the voter will continue to choose the BJP.

During his campaign, Mr. Modi announced that a scheme to provide 5kg of free grain a month of 800 million of India’s poorest people would continue for the next five years. The resurgence of his party in Madhya Pradesh was also credited to a programmer offering a monthly stipend of 1,250 rupees [$16; £12] to eligible women from poorer families – women comprise some 47% of the 50 million voters in the state.

A nationwide survey in August showed Mr. Modi’s popularity remained intact after a decade in power: more than half of the respondents felt he should continue to lead India.
